Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig, who itled for the honour in 1931, were also in the limelight, the Babe hit- ting his sixth and Lou 'his eighth of the season. W. F. Field (Craigengower) provided the first sensation in the Pittsburgh Pirates and New Lawn Bowls Singles Championship when he defeated J. G. Ozoris York Yankees, present leaders in (Recreio), one of the last eight in the 1932 tourney. Field won-yester respective leagues, bath recorded wins while the Indians and the day by 22-10 after 19 ends had been played.
