Zoo Favourite's £4,000
In 11 Years.
London. Among the riding elephants at the London Zoo who are now pre- paring for their "season" of carry- ing children for shart promenades is "Ranee."
Since 1922, when she was pre- sented to the Zoological Society. by the Prince of Wales, she has car ried more than 350,000 people—an average of 35,000 every year.
Ranee has earned between £3,000* and £4,000 in her 11 years service, probably the largest sum any zoo has made from a single animal. She is a young elephant, only 18 years old,Beuter.
