Usual Bonus To Staff

An increase in profits of $197,- 380.85 for the year 1932-33, as compared with the previous year, was reported by the Directors of the Hong Kong Telephone Com- pany, Ltd., at the annual share- holders meeting held this morning.

The proposal to pay the usual dividend of 10 per cent for the year was adopted.

In his report, the Chairman, the Hon. Mr. C. Gordon Mackie, attributed the increased profits to a higher income on the Working Account, while the ex- penditure had not risen propor- tionately.

Emphasising the progress made during the year, the Chairman said that negotiations were proceeding for radio telephone communication |with other places and that the in- stallation would be completed in about one year after the conclusion of the negotiations.

The report and accounts, as read, were adopted:

The Chairman said.-"Turning to the Accounts, you will observe, by reference to the Debit side of Profit & Loss Account, that the amount payable annually to Gov- ernment in respect of Royalties I continues to increase and the sum shown for the year under review. namely $44,268, is $4,680 in excess New York, To-day.
