The attraction of the Champion Stakes, and the brighter weather drew a large crowd to Happy Valley on February 22 for the fourth day of the annual race meeting. The main event of the earlier programme, the Ladies' Purse, was won by Gleneagles, and the champion jockey, Mr. L. G. Frost received a great ovation.
Two records were shattered and thrilling finishes wil nessed at the final day's racing on February 25.

"The one certain, direction in which to look for the strength of the silver market is the revival of export trade from China and India,” declared the Hon. Mr. J. J. Paterson, in addressing shareholders at the ordinary yearly meeting of the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation held in the Bank's Offices on February 25.
