Now that table cloths have assum- ed a place of great interest, up-to- date hostesses are using some really intricate styles. Cloths of whito damask patterned with small, em- bossed flower heads, are cut in circles for round tables, and made with frills to hang over the sides of the tables.

It is this extra frill which has become so ornate. It is not extra. deep. A mere eight inches suffices. But it may be trimmed with puffing of lace, or sprinkled with embroider- led motifs to match those on the table napkins. Perhaps a touch of colour in the machine-embroidery og the frill corresponds with that on the napkins-several colours on the cloth, but only one on each napkin. There is added work for the laundress.
