It was not until some 3watów, Amoy and Foochow time after the war that she was "Straits and Calcutta run, with put on the Calcutta
which she is generally associated,
and on which she has run practi-Manila cally ever since, with only oc Bangkok casional diversions to Bombay.
She was a particularly success ful ship, popular with her passen- gers on account of her solid com- fort, and as good a cargo 'carrier as the state of trade would permit, until early in March last when she arrived at Falmouth, where she has been laid up ever since. She has had a short life, it is true, but that has been due to the improve- ments which the company hus effected and not to any faults of
her own.
