H. M. METAVISH SEVERING CONNECTION WITH FOOTBALL CLUB.
W. Pryde Probable Successor to Secretarial Post.
It will come as bad news to Club supporters to hear that Mr. H. M. McTavish, Secretary of the Hong Kong Football Club, is leaving for England by the Comorin in about three weeks' time.
For the last eighteen years Mr. McTavish has been one of the keenest promoters of the soccer code in the Colony, starting as an ordinary play. er, and later rising to the cap- taincy of the Club. When his playing days were over he turned his hand to secretarial work and his unbounded energies have been responsible for the Club's position at the present momèrit.
It is understood from a re Hable source that. Mr. Walter Pryde will again be persuaded to take over the secretarial position,

Just what the selection com- mittee has in mind when it de cided to hold another such trini is hard to tell. Do they want to see how the different players are shaping up? If this is the case, then the members of the committee have evident ly been misnamed. It is only logical, it appears to us, that only those who are close fol-' Towers of local soccer and keen students of the game should be entrusted with the task of mak- ing selections for the all-im-. portant interport classic, and these people should be able to 'name the personnel of a team right off the bat even without the necessity of staging ⠀ trial games.
