SANEST METHOD OF SILVER CLEANING

Chemical Process Is Most Effective.

There are two methods of clean- ing silver-hand rubbing and chemical action. Chemical action is a big labour-saver, because it removes the most obstinate tarnish and leaves only a minimum of hand polishing. Cleaning by chemical action does hot harm the metal, but care must be taken not |

to clear any "filled" or lacquered silver articles in this way. Hol- low-ware is liable to be filled with

a compound which, if softened by heat, wil ooze out into the water, and heat will also immediately peel of the lacquer from lacquer ed silver.

Use a perfectly clean, grease- free, aluminium bowl or saucepan, and to each quart of boiling water i add one teaspoonful of ordinaryj baking soda and one teaspoonful of salt. Immerse the silver in this solution, and allow it to stand until the tarnish is neutralized.

Have handy a second pan of clean, hot water und very thoroughly rinse the silver in this. Then rub the hot metal briskly all over with a tested silverware paste polish. Rinse once more in hot water, containing a little soap,! which will help to keep the silver! bright much longer than if clear. water were used. Dry with a soft, clean cloth, and polish with a chamois leather a prepared

4 tablespoons butter

4 tablespoons flour

tablespoon salt

4 teaspoon paprika

2 tablespoons chopped green

1 cup diced chicken, cooked 2/3 cup diced' ham, cooked 23 cup crumbs

3 tablespoons butter, melted Melt four tablespoons of butter, add flour, salt, paprika and celery aalt. Add milk, cook until creamy sauce forma. Add peppers, chic- ken and ham. Pour into buttered baking dish, Cover with crumbs which have been mixed with the melted butter. Bake 20 minutes in moderate oven.
