Despite the fact that Mr. Dollar found that European nations were! contemplating the greatest junking of liner tonnage in the history of international shipping, he said that the United States was short of sufficient vessels of the Manhat-

"I think that we shall not only! keep the business we have put that we shall have to put on additionall passenger tonnage and freight ser- vices to keep pace and get Ameri-j ca's rightful percentage of trade asi against competing lines," said M2. Dollar.

The fact is that in recent months the Americans who formerly travelled, in many in- jatances, on foreign ships are now patronising our American vessels. We must here express our apprecia- tion of this fact.

The new talinn super-speed ships shall not affect us, as we do not cover the same trade route, But possible we shall feel the com- petition of certain speed liners now under construction in other foreign yards.
