BORDERERS UNLUCKY IN "Y" BATH.

Lose by Odd Goal

In Seven,

INFINITELY BETTER SIDE.

The Y.M.C.A. Water Polo team followed up a splendid victory over the Chinese Bath- ing Club, on Tuesday, by gain- ing a very lucky declalon over. the South Wales Borderers in the "Y" bath last night. The. "Y" won by 4 goals to 3. The result was Battering to the "Y" team for their forwards were very scrappy, and of the goala. which were scored two were very

cky, and two were the result of

individual efforts.

The Borderers' combination and

than that of their opponents.;

ball control was infinitely better

Defending the shallow end the

"y" opened the scoring through

Fowler, who swam in from the half way line, to score with a hard shot. Aris added the second from s faulty clearance. Coleman re- duced the lead when he gave Nicholls no chance from inside the penalty arca. The "Y" backs now | sustained heavy pressure" for a long period and it was only after a good clearance by Railton that Ambrose scored, the third goal from a melee in front of the Bor- derers' goalmouth.

In the second half play tended to become rough frequent fouls being given against both sides. The Borderers' centre half placed a lovely pass at Campbell's right hand; who made no mistake with a fast back hand shot. In the last minute Smith passed to Sutherland who gave to Flaherty who repeat- ed the previous manoeuvre by again placing the ball at Camp bell's right hand-the "Y" goalie appeared to be unsighted by Murphy, for the ball entered the right hand corner of the net-

Nicholls making no effort to save. South Wales Borderers:

Sutherland, Smith, Campbell, Flaherty, Coleman, Morgan, and Gilmore.

Sgt. Church and L/Cpl. Smith, the former winning by only 3 points. Pte. Walters, of the losers, regia.M.CĂ. — tered a break of 21, but he found Drummer Matthias too consistent

for him, and went down by 45 points. Full scores. were AN follow.
