COMPSTON RESENTS GOLF ASIDE IN BRITISH OPEN.

Spectator Who Said "Go On" To Rolling Ball.

Archic Compston, the golf professional, had an irritating Experience recently. He was playing in the second qualifying

the round in British Open Golf champion- ship on the Prince's Course when his ball bounced on to a mound and 'dropped into a deep-faced hunker at the, edge. of the green.

He recovered too strongly and his ball raced across the green. A spectator from the. top of the bunker shouted "Go on to the ball. Compston, from the bunker, immediately said: "What do you mean by 'Go on?" He obviously was upset by the incident and said afterwards: We don't want these stage asides; they are Unnecessary and, after all, weTMTM expect the spectators to be sportsmen. A remark like that has never before been made to me in the whole of my golfing carcer."
