MASTERLY INNINGS AT LORD'S SAVES PLAYERS

KENT REGAIN LEADERSHIP

GUNN'S SON GIVES NOTTS BIG HOME VICTORY,

The big match at Lord's was left drawn with the Gentlemen re- quiring 192 runs for victory. A magnificent innings by Jack Hobbs, who carried his bat through the innings for 161, was the feature of the third innings of a high scoring match — 1061 ruins were scored for only 28 wickets. This was Hobby' seventh century for the Players at Lord's and his sixteenth in the whole series of matches.

G. V. Gunn, the son of the famous Notts batsman, was largely responsible for the Notts home victory over Essex. Known as a batsman of great possibilities, Gunn has always had a hankering for bowling, and yesterday he dismissed the metropolitan team for 98 to send Notts into third place in the championship table. He is a slow spin bowler who has met with great success on occasion.

Keeton (141) and Arthur Carr, the Notts skipper, (132 not out) participated in a prolific partnership after Notte had lost five cheap wickets to Nichols and H. T. O. Smith, and were largely responsible for the declaration of the innings at 306-159 runs ahead.
