ANDREWS TWISTS ANKLE WHEN OPPOSED TO SHIELDS.
Last Year's Finalist However Wins After Narrow' Shave.
E. D. Andrews, who played in Hong Kong a year ago had the great misfortune to twist his ankle when holding, the match against Frank Shields at Wimbledon in the palm of his hand.
He won the first two sets from the American and then had a tragie fall at the be ginning of the third, twisting his ankle.. Andrews was car- ried to a chair, and Dr. Gre- gory, the well-known British Davis Cup player, massaged his ankle.
Later, the New Zealander resumed the match' amidst tumultuous scenes. He dropp- ed the third set, but fought on and led by 5 guises tó 4 in the fourth. Twice the lion-heart- ed Andrews wanted only two points for match, but his In- ability to gallop was the decid- ing factor and Shields finally won by 4-8, 1915, 6-3, 7-5, 6-2. The match lasted 2 hours and 45 minutes.
