Yorkshire Points.
London, Yesterday: No fewer than eighteen centuries were registered during the mid-week cricket programme. H. S. Squires by hitting up 131 and 102 for Surrey against Oxford University, scored his third successive century, having registered 103 against Cam- bridge University at the Oval last Friday.
Keeton scored his fourth cen- tury of the season and Patsy Hendren followed up his 119 against Derbyshire by scoring 123 against Yorkshire, thus dis- pelling all doubts regarding an injured hand which has kept him out of the game for over a month. AUSTIN BEATS SHIELDS
Wimbledon, Yesterday.
If Jack Crawford, Australian tennis champion, maintains the form which he displayed to-day against Fred Perry in the Quarter Finals he will be the 1932 Wimbledon Champion.
His victory over the favourite was the result of superior speed, his fust driving attack disconcerting the Englishman. He will meet Jiro Satoh, who conquered the holder, in the Semi-Final Round on Thursday.
"Bunny" Austin fulfilled all the promise that he has shown since his recovery from the recent operation to his nose when he defeated Frank Shields, the American star, in four sets.
Austin displayed a greater determination, and his stamina after the second and third gruelling sets was admirable.
His victory augurs well for the probable clash between Britain and America in the Davis Cup challenge round as It is considered almost certain that Shields will be America's No. 2 singles player.
Austin will meet Ellsworth Vines, America's No. 1 ranking player in the Semi-Final on Thursday, and the result of this match should act as a direct pointer to the result of the possible Britain v. America Davis Cup match.
Great enthusiasm has been shown by followers of lawn tennis during the last rounds of the most famous tournament in the world, and it is the general opinion that two British players may quite Derbyshire caused a sensation easily figure in this year's Final. Lausanne, To-day.
A communique was issued after three hours of discussion. It announced that Mr. Ramsay Mac- Donald will to-morrow invite the Major Powers to "make arrangements for completing the work of the Conference," the latter phrase being substi- tuted for “winding up the Conference.”
The position is still not clear, but Mr. Mac- Donald's intervention has greatly improved the atmosphere.
On June 19, according to his companions, Gladkih was seen for the last time. It is believed The British are soberly optimistic, and it is that his persistent demands for understood that the Franco-German viewpoints water brought down the wrath will come much closer, as the principle of cancella-
