Miss Gwen Sterry, the young, British player, nearly brought about the second Wimbledon sensation when she led Fraulein Krahwinkel, last year's finalist 5-4 in the second after winning the first set at 6-4. But the German girl's experience coupled with the nerves displayed by Miss Sterry saved the day and Fraulein Krabwinkel, enter- ed the next round.
