Local Soccer Dispute Now Settled

Chinese Club Re-Instated To Membership Of H.K.F.A.

Mutual Misunderstandings

The Terms Of Settlement And Recent Correspondence

The local football dispute, which caused the withdrawal of the South China Athletic Association, the Chinese Athletic Association, the Eastern Football Club, the Ewo Football Club, and the Tsung Tsin Athletic Association from membership of the Hong Kong Foot- ball Association at the commencement of the last football season, kas now been amicably settled. Next season the Chinese Clubs will again enter the football league after a year's absence.

The dispute arouse over the Malayan Chinese v. Hong Kong Chinese match at the commencement of the season. The H.K.F.A. refused to allow the South China A.A. to postpone their League en- counter with the Club in order to allow their best players to repre- sent the local Chinese against the Malayan visitors. On the grounds | that the Association had not been approached with regard to the fix- ture between the Hong Kong Chinese and the Malayan Chinese, which had been arranged by the Chinese Athletic Federation. The H.K.F.A. went even further and refused to recognise the proposed match be- tween the Malayan, Chinese and the United Services. This caused the rift in the lute and five Chinese Clubs immediately sent in their resignations.

After months of weary waiting the diopate has, however, been amicably settled and the Chinese Clubs have again been re-installed to membership of the Association. Below is published the text of the terms of settlement together with the more recent correspon- dence which passed between the Association and the Chinese Clubs.

After much delay action was Mr. H K. Loo, having resigned, taken in the dispute between the Mr. H. M. McTavish was appointed Hong Kong Football Association in his stead.
