The Hong Kong Interport Cricket Eleven in Shanghai Brief Summary of the Visit

by one of the Party

The following brief diary has been sent to the "China Mail” for publication by one of the members of the party of Hong Kong cricketers which recently returned victorious from Shanghai. It is a very fair and unbiased account of the trip and brings credit to the author whose unfor- tunate modesty keeps his identity a secret.

The Hong Kong Interport XI., accompanied by Mr. Fincher, left Hong Kong at 2 a.m. on the morn- ing of Saturday, May 14, on the President Jefferson in the highest of spirits. On the first day out of Hong Kong the weather.was per feet, much to. Hamilton's relief, but a cold mlat on the second day gave us a forewarning of the rain which greeted us on our arrival in Shanghai early on Whit Mon- day.

Two or three hours Inter, we es caped from the all embracing arms of the passport and Customs au- thorities and were welcomed by Donald Leach, Pat Madar, who had gone on ahead to Shanghai, and a number of old singers led by the evergreen Barney.
