A WHOLE WEEK'S NEWSPAPERS IN ONE.

The first Investiture of the year took place at Govern. ment House, on May 2, a large number of guests being present.

The bright dresses of the ladies, mingling with the more conservative dress of the men, provided a colourful background for the ceremony.

The principal recipient among the honours list was Mrs. H. T. Creasy who received the M.B.E., others being Mr. Li Po-kwai, J.P., and Mr. Wòng Kwonz-tin who both re- ceived Certificates of Honour and Mr. Abbas Arculli who received the decoration of an Associate Serving Brother of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem. A full report of the occasion is given in the OVERLAND CHINA MAIL.

Considerable interest is being evinced in the election, and much correspondence, involving letters from the can- didates, are printed in the OVERLAND CHINA MAIL.
