It had its inception in London in 1844 and had grown steadily ever since until, at the present time, its activities are world-wide. The founder of the "Y" was an English- man named George Williams, and Credits, 60 days' sight 24% from small beginnings the move- ment had made such steady growth that before the end of the long and useful life of the founder it had be come practically world-wide, with 1,000,000 members.

The movement extended readily in the English-speaking countries, and America took

up the idea o readily that at the present time al- most one-half of the world member ship of approximately 2,000,000, are in North America.
