the liner Strathaird, on her maiden voyage, saw an exciting rescue of a Siamese! pilgrim bound for Mecca, in the Red Sea.

The discovery of the man is con sidered a miracle of the pilgrimage in Arab quarters here, where it is claimed that the pilgrim was riding on a shark, his head crowned by a bird of prey, and with an escort of sharks accompanying him. He is already regarded as a holy man.

The man was surrounded by sharks when sighted from the liner. A boat was immediately lowered and the man rescued uninjured. It pilgrim had was found that the fallen overboard from the Antilochus, bound for Mecca, and had been in the water several hours. when picked up.

The Strathaird left London on February 6.
