One of the most interesting regattas to be held in Hong Kong for some years took place on April 2, in the nature of a triangular contest, when the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club entertained watermen from Manila and Canton at North Point.
Weather conditions were excellent for the sailing events, although it was a trife choppy for rowing, and a good afternoon's sport was witnessed by a large crowd. The event is reported in detail in the OVERLAND CHINA MAIL.
The Rt. Rev. C. R. Dappuy, D. D., Bishop of Victoria, who is shortly leaving for Home to take up the Canonry of Worcester Cathedral, presented his farewell sermon in St. John's Cathedral on April 3. The service was bilingual, Dean Swann conducting the ritual in English, followed by Archdeacon Mok, who spoke in Chinese. The sermon is reported in the OVERLAND CHINA MAIL,
Mr. P. T. Farrell, who presided at the annual meeting of the Institution of Engineers and Shipbuilders, reported a successful year. Occasion was also taken to make a pre-- sentation to Mr. G. J. Harman, Launch Inspector of the Chinese Maritime 'Customs, and Vice-Chairman of the Institute, who is retiring shortly. The presentation included a gift for Mrs. Harman.
