Williams, who was so destruc- tive on Saturday, was given the honour of opening the innings, and he took his opportunity by scoring 71 runs out of 118 put on for the first wicket partner ship. He batted exceedingly well, his most productive shots being on the leg side. After opening with a snick dangerous- ly near second slip he settled down to good cricket and show- ed no fears for the home-team's bowling. Amongst his best hits were one six, eleven boundaries and two threes.

Macfarlan, who had been batting very patchily, left soon after, hav-} Ing scored 25 out of 117. Wales and Hamilton saw the 150 hoisted, the latter attacking the bowling with such gusto that when he was bowled he had scored 41 out of 52 which included eight boundaries. Wales was content to play himself in and was not seen to advantage until late In the innings.

Mirehouse, going in before the luncheon interval, was, at first very subdued, but after the interval he

The Kowloon bowling showed definite signa of staleness after the holiday Axtures and lacked ating." Lyal was perhaps the most danger ous bowler to play, though Smith returned the bost analysis.

Capt. Moir decided to make a game of it when, the K.C.C. open ed their innings and kept his shock bowlers in.reserve, This move, however, did not prove as success ful as he may have hoped, for thres wicketa fell for 81 runs, and it looked as if another of those deadly "rota" was going to set in. E. F. Fincher and Smith, however. stepped into the breach and by dogged cricket gradually wore down the attack and put on 117 runs for the fourth wicket before Smitha was out to a mishit.

In scoring 60 Bmith gave a fine display at a critical period and clearly demonstrated that he is a first team man and not a Second Division player. Amongst his best hits were ten boundaries.
