750,000 Fewer Barrels Produced In Britain.

A decrease of more than three- quarters of a million standard barrels of beer produced in Great Britain and Ireland in the first half of this year, compared with the first half of last year, is in- dicated in a written answer by the Chancellor of the Exchequer to a question put by Mr. E. Winterton (Soc. Loughborough); Mr. Snowden's reply showed that 9,115,427 standard barrels were produced in the first half of 1930, compared with 8,314,279 in the corresponding period this year. In July and August last year the figures were 1,918,455 and 1,577,375 barrels and in July and August this year 1,777,618 and 1,464,800 (approximately) standard barrels were produced.
