The annual report of the British Sailing Ship Owners' Association shows a reduction in tonnage for the year of 38 ships and 4,361 net tons.

the The returns published by Registrar-General of Shipping and Seamen record that 82 sailing ships of 9,373 gross tons were added to the United Kingdom register dur- ing the twelve months, July, 1930, to Jane, 1931, including 36 new of 5,983 gross tons built Vessels during 1930 and 1931. Of these 33 were built in the United Kingdom.

The number of sailing vessels added to the register is, however, more than offset by the number re- moved from it, which consisted of
