(Loud Applause).
Another Honeymoon. Fifty years ago, when I married, the Chinese marriage customs in Hang Han were very different from those of the present day. The Wedding Cake and Honeymoon were practically unheard of; the nuptial dinner WAS an elaborate affair; and the number of "kow- towg" which the bride and the bridegroom had to perform to parents, uncles, aunts and a host of other elders was enough to give them the "house-mald's knee." The young couple were denied the joy of a few quiet moments to them- selves, having to entertain their friends night after night up to the small hours of the morning, for at least a week. The present day: bride and bridegroom are happily free from these fetters of conven- have all the Ilonalities and can time to themselves immediately after the wedding reception. To make up for what we lost half a century ago, I have persuaded my wife Logo on a honeymoon with me after this reception. (Laughter, and Applause).

The entire floor was damaged by the flames which spread rapidly owing to favourable wind. The loss re- sulting from the fire la estimated at more than $5,000.
