The prosecution has attempted to prove that Licut. Fratt was to blame for the stranding which led to the loss of H.M.S. Petersfield and that he failed in his duties as laid down in Article 1202, K.R. & A.I. his Commanding Officer has stated in evidence that Lieut. Pratt was conducting the navigation of the ship in a proper manner and that he pointed out all the dangers in or near the ship's course to him. There can be little doubt that had he been called at 2 a.m., when the ship was still in safety, he would have asked the Captain if he was i prepared to go on, as in fact he did ask when he was called about 2.25. The Commanding Officer has also stated that Lieut. Pratt had speci- fically advised him that it would be- unsafe to continue on the present course after 2 a.m., when his estimated position put him six miles from Tung Yung light.

Prosecutions Taken.
