The story goes back to the days of '49 when the Americans were Douglases engaged in the colonising of the open spaces of their big country. There is, of course, romance, be-

tween the daughter of the Colonel of a U.S. Cavalry. Regiment, and a former officer of the regiment who deserted after murdering a follow- officer in a quarrel over a woman. The couple slope and got married. There are plenty of ups and downs with the man as the proprietor of a gambling dive. Eventually they | drift apart, but later come again
