KOWLOON MATERNITY BLOCK.

The Finance Committee of the Legislative Council will be asked to-morrow to sanction supplemen- tary Votes totalling $108,138 for the current year. Delails are as under:

Public Works Department: Drawing Materials and Mounting Plans, $4,000.

Provision made in .Estimates. $7,000.

The yote has become exhausted on account of the continued heavy de- mand for leases, the demands for plans etc. from other Departments, and the increased cost of materials in local currency.

Approximately 20 per cent. of the amount expended is recoverable from the sale of plans etc.

The tone of the market this morn- ing is slightly better, and it appears! that the Settlement has now been more or less liquidated.

Wharves were in demand at the improved rate of $150.

The Secretary of State for the Colonies has approved the appoint- ment of a Deputy Treasurer to the Fost of Treasurer on the scale of 1,500 to £1,800 as from June 28, 1931.
