Services S. China

Wednesday West Brom. Arsebu Sheffield. U. A fine Everton piece of work by the Chinese left Huddersfield wing enabled Lee. to centre, but Aston Villa Savage saved well as Chu was about to shoot. A period of pressure by the Servicesvalled them nothing, numerous passes went astray. but after a short return by the Chinese, they did, however, go near to scoring when Byron's shot just akimmed the bar. Things looked minous for the Services' goal when Lee got away to shoot within a few yards of the goal, but Savage anticipated well and saved to clear smartly. A brief visit by the Ser- vices was easily repelled and, for a time the Chinese completely over- whelmed the apposing defence, but their shooting was Homewhat off the target. However, a few minutca later, Ip beat Hay splendidly to put the ball into, the centre and Lee Wai-tong scored a good goal with u well-placed shot. From the kick off the Services came up and Louden was unfortunate to see his shot hit the top of the bar with Pau well baaten. Play at this stage was be- coming rather boisterous, with the result that numerous fouls occurred. Eynon was injured and had to leave the field and within a minute of the interval Louden, who was almost through, was brought down heavily in the penalty area. The spot kick was taken by Dickson, who made no mistake, to reduce the Services' deficit.

Half time:

On the resumption, the Services, with Eynon recovered, were the first to become dangerous, when Rawson put Dickson away, but McTavish, from the centre, shot high. From the kick the Chinese returned and Cheng centred well to put Lee through, but Savage saved eplendid ly. A centre from McTavish was well placed and Dickson neatly tricked Li, but the shat did not find its objective. The Chinese, went further ahead when Leung Wing- chiu put Fang through for the lat ter to bent Savage from close In... The Services, after this made a great attempt to break through, but many chances were lost through slowness and lack of combination in their forward line. However, play was again brought into the Chinese area, and Dickson centred splendid.

ly, only for Louden to miss badly, and McTavish to shoot wide of the mark. Play slackened considerably in the closing stages with the Chinese again on the offensive and Savage saved well from Chu at close quartors. During the final period the Services were almost run to a no further scoring standstill, but resulted.
