The official summary issued by the Stock Exchange to-day states:
The market opened this morning with a wave of buying of the more speculative counters, substantial transactions having taken place in Ewos. Trams and Lands. Wham
poa Docks, after remaining stng- nant for a considerable time, aro now in demand at $20,
Banks were in request at $2,040. Canton Insurances, after business done at $1,525, closed with buyers at this rate.
-Unions were dealt in at $560, and terminated with buyers at $555.
H. K.Pires were wanted at $1,480. but the rate did not procure shares. Underwriters were negotiated at
$6.20.

Wharves were in demand at $161. Whampoa Docks, 48 already stated, were in request at $29.
Providents; which were done at $64, ended with buyers at $6.40. The new shares could have been ob tained at $3.20.
Hotel (old) were in demand at $17. The new shares, which were but through at $16.60, were in re- quest at $16.40, but at the close there were sellers at the first-named quotation.
Lands were the medium of sales at $90%, at which they closed in de- inand, bet sellers were seeking $9034.
Humphreys (old) were in de niand at $22.
Realties were transacted at $17.30.
Ewos, after being done at $15.35 and $15%, had buyers at the latter rate, but sellers wanted $16.90.
Trams changed hands at $22.60 and $22.70, at which latter rate they closed in demand.

On or ahout September 25, and without further advice, the two buoys defining the fairway between the Fish Stakes at the entrance to Pakhol will be moved about 2,000 feet South East from present poal tions, the characteristics of the buoys remaining unchanged.

V. Soong who asked the American Minister to restrain the American Express Company of Hong Kong from de livering the notes to the Kwangsi Provincial Bank.
The public in Canton and other parts of the country are urged to boycott the American Banknote Company and the American Express Company and to place future orders with British firms.
