Mr. R. E. Lindsell Voices His Optimism.

Before a fair number of mem- bers and their friends. Mr. R. E. Lindsell, the President of the Kowloon Cricket Club, laid the foundation stone of the new K.C.C. clubhouse yesterday evening.

In performing the ceremony, Mr. Lindsell said that it was not his intention to make a speech but that a few remarks were in keep- ing with the occasion.,

"The erection of this building (' marks the turning point of the history of the club. We have em- barked on a new and momentous enterprise, which involves consider- able expenditure and some risk, but for the issue of this enter- prise, we need have no fears. The strength and solidity of this stone are emblematic not only of the ex- eellence of this building that is going up, but also of the whole future of the club" (Applause.)
