FIRST MEETING OF NATIONAL CABINET

PREMIER PREPARING A PERSONAL TRIUMPH ?

SALARY REDUCTIONS

PARLIAMENT MAY NOW MEET

ON SEPTEMBER 15

It is now expected that Parliament will meet on September 15, a week later than at first proposed. This is in order to give the Cabinet more time to consider economy proposals and prepare measures for their adoption.

It is believed that, while the Cabinet is engaged upon devising ways and means to put into operation economy measures which will pass through the House comparatively easily, the Premier is staging a personál. triumph by aiming to include certain economy measures which received the support of Cabinet Ministers, of the late Labour Government, who are now preparing to offer every resistance to the National Government. Mr. MacDonald wishes to hoist Mr. Hender- son with his own petard.
