Jupp, the Northampton- 9.36 shire captain, has achieved the "cricketer's double" of scoring 1,000 runs and securing 100 wic- kets, when he took four wickets against Leicestershire at Leicester. He was the first man to do so this season. This is the eighth occasion upon which Jupp has performed the feat.

As the result of the death of a Denturicci from injuries received during A contest at Nice three years ago, the promoter of the match was recently sentenced to four months' Imprisonment, but given a suspend- ed sentence. (equivalent to the First Offenders' Act in England).

The referee was also sentenced to one month's imprisonment, and fined, and the organisers of the match were ordered to pay £240 damages to the father of the 'dead youth.
