NEW DOLLAR LINER.

Largest American Built Vessel.

PRESIDENT HOOVER.

But

There is always something fas- cinating about a new thing, and especially fascinating are now motor-cars, new trains, etc. yet more fascinating, is a new ship. A new ship appeals so much more to the imagination than anything else, we think. We wonder at her graceful lines, marvel at her mag- nificent bulk so easily polsed on the water, and contemplate in as- tonishment the immense power con- cealed in her and of which she is symbolic.

We are, therefore, not surprised that, when the new Dollar Liner, President Hoover, entered the mer chant marine service on Wednesday,! July 29, (a Red Letter Day in the annals of this great shipping 'com. pany), she was the recipient of a great ovation in New York har- bour,
