Flight Lt. F. G. Gibbons, R.A.F who started nineteenth, is leading the King's Cup. He was ninth at Norwich and first at Leeds, Liver- pool and 'Heston, where he landed at 2.56 p.m.

There were fourteen withdrawals by the time Leeda was reached owing to serious casualties due part. ly to the unfavourable weather and partly to the visibility, which was probably the worst ever experienced in this race.

All women have now withdrawn from the contest with the exception of Miss Crossley.

The race was held under the most difficult conditions, and there were many withdrawals as the race proceeded. Fliers encountered rain and clouds all day. The win- ner was the airman who, with Miss

The Portuguese Company took the Team Race with great easé, W. Lawrence finishing up for them with a very fast burst.

Water Polo,

The Volunteers. had a subatan- tial victory in the water polo match. They beat "United Ser- vices" by seven goals to nil, be-] ing three up at half time. There was not so much in it as the score appeared to show, the Ser rices holding their own in the early stages. However, they were deficient in shooting range. and power, which made all the difference, with Roza Pereira and Lawrence in deadly form for the Volunteers.

Miss Jean Bird, presented the prizes after the sports, and Mickey's Melody Makers then played for dancing. The Volun teer Corps band also rendered selections during the evening.
