To no one has Bobby Jones, America's champion golfer, con Aided so much as to Dale Bourn, the. British amateur champion, who has just returned from a long atay
in America, writes C. B. Macfarlane in the Evening News. Bourn competed in the America Amateur Championship In which Jones. won his fourth national championship that season.
Bobby Jones is a keen theoriat, and he told Dale Bourn, in the rooms which they shared, that he thought one of the chief reasons why British golfers are not con sistent was due to the fact that their back-swing is not long enough.

He went on to explain that, he likes to feel that the clubhead has dipped below the horizontal at the and of the back swing, "From that position," he said, "I get plenty of time to gather clubhead speed without undue hastening or tightening up of the muscles. And with the hands well up they make so wide an arc that I also get time to correct any little fault of balance or a slipping foot.
"My wrists are coiled up like a spring, and I can keep them coll- ed until the very last moment be fore impact."
