A club competition under form of handicap would be rather good fun. It is a nice question as to how many revocable shots ought to be given in place of the ordinary allowance. One of them would not always atene
for the first failure. I think that a per- son with a handicap of twelve might be conceded eighteen revac. able shots, to be taken where he wished.
The idea is, at any rate, betler 4 3 0
than bisques; for it involves the 20 200 playing of the shots instead of 91 permitting the subterfuge of claiming strokes as though they had been played perfectly whero- over they suited best.
Better Than Bogey,
Several clubs have held success- ful compétitions amongst their members, with the professional as the embodiment of bogey.
The principle is that any mem ber may challenge the professional
3 1 0 2 to a match in this tournament and 410 3 play him under handicap, the 1 1 0
local robot being rated at plus six. 4 1 0
The player who gains the biggest 4 1 0
victory over him during the period 1 0 1 of the event is the winner, 3 0 1 2 1 0 0 1
