DEATH PENALTY,
First German Execution Since 1928.
Berlin, May 2, The world's oldest executioner, the eighty-one year old Reichart, carried out on Saturday, at Regens-
sentence burg, the death
passed upon Tetzner, whose torch murder
year caused last
sensation throughout Europe and, It is believ- ed, inspired the similar crime com- mitted in England by the notorious Rouse.
A
Tetzner killed a tramp on the high road and burned the body in an automobile, thus, staging an acci- dent to enable his wife to collect a heavy insurance. Tetzner who in accordance with German law, was beheaded, met his death boldly.
This was the first execution in Germany since 1928, when the Federal Government appealed to the States to suspend carrying out death sentences pending the passage of the new Penal Code by the Reich- stag. In view, however, of this particularly foul murder it was de cided that Totzner should pay the penalty-an argument which is ad- vanced also in the case of the Duesseldorf vampire, Kuerten, who will be guillotined at the end of the month.
NESTLE AND ANGLO-SWISS MILK.
(Continued from Page 2.) what advantage would accrue to the shareholders from such a course, which would naturally not have the slightest effect on the net profit to be distributed. If times improved, and if they were able to keep abreast of circum- stances while extending their business, shareholders would doubtless have nothing to regret
in remaining faithful to the com- pany and in giving them their con- Adence.
The resolutions referred to in the notice convening the meetlag were duly passed, and Messrs. H. Bersier and H. Gunthert were elected directors 'to replace the
late Mr. J. J. Kohler and Mr. B. Rossler, retired. Messra. L. Dapples and J. Cuenod, whose terms of office expired this year, were, also re-elected.
