Osaka, May 14.

Miss Kinue Hitomi, Japan's fore- most woman track athlete, has, gene into training with hopes of winning a place on the Japanese team which will participate in the Olympic meet at Los Angeles next year.

Miss Hitomi, who is a sporting writer on the "Osaka Mainichi," although she has reached 35 years which is the age when Japanese womon begin to fret a little if there is not a prospective husband in sight, saya she has no intention of permitting matrimony to inter- fere with her athletic activities.

The track star in an article in the "Women's Salon," a monthly magazine, says she is "fed-up" with all the advice on marriage which has been pouring in on her ever since her name became known for her achievements as a sprinter. "My seniors are always advising me to begin thinking seriously about marriage, but I often ask myself whether I до tempera- mentally Atted for marriage," Mias Hitomi writes.

"Some of my advisers have even taken to sarcasm, suggesting that since I am such an athletic in- dividual I may beat my husband when I become angry; but I don't think so because my heart is not hard, no matter how fierce I may look when I am running in a race. "So instead of getting married right away, I think I shall con- tinue my interest in athletics. If I devote the time required for the consideration of marriage to my work, I probably can accomplish a great deal. Undoubtedly I shall change my occupatios, in time but no matter what new one I may enter upon, it will not be as de- lightful as competing on the track. before thousands of spectators, sching the Rising Sun flng hoisted I won and hearing the band play the Japanese national anthem."

Miss Hitomi has made three trips to Europe for athletic com- petition and has won a series of women's International records. Among these were 24, 7/10 seconds for the 200-metres in 1929 and 59- seconds for the 200-metres in 1928.
