JOCK CRICHTON IS KNOCKED OUT.
THE
Punch-Drunk in Fourth Round.
"STINNIE" MORRIS WINS.
Shanghai, April 26. Giving away ten pounds Jock | Crichton, 152 lb., was no match for Frankie Rumus (U.S.S. Hous- tonj. 162 lb., and the end came in the fourth round when the local man's seconds threw in the towel when their man was absolutely punch-drunk.
At the outset Crichton took the Tensive, scoring nicely to the body. After about a minute, how- ever, he walked into a nasty left to the jaw, and Remus followed up. using his weight to advantage. The round ended with honours easy,
Remus attacked at the opening of the second. Crichton being wil- ling to retreat in attempts in use the ropes. The sailor, however, was too strong, and took all that was coming, which was mostly a

succession of light rights to the face. Towards the end Remus had his man groggy and was beating him all over the bady when the gong sounded. Remus took seven points to Crichton's three,
Crichton had to box on the retreat agnin in the third and saved himself ጋር amount of punishment by pretty dodging and side-stepping. After a mix up, the local man was thrown to the canvas, but gat up immediately and fought back, thereby running into more punish- ment. He finished fresher than was to be expected and took the round by the narrowest of mar- gins.
Ends In Fourth.
The fourth saw the end. After a enuticas opening Jock sent home some light lefts to the sailor'a face, but got himself in the way of a right cross and went down, taking a count of three. On get- ting up he was chased all over the fing, getting repeated smashes to the jaw and side of the head. After a doubtful blow he held out his hand to the sallor, but Remus ignored it and continued to alam. and knocked Crichton so silly that he commenced to walk dazedly to his earner. Remus followed up. raining blows at the local boy's head, and Paddy Duffy, seconding, did the right thing in throwing the towel into the ring.
For actual fighting, real boxing, science and general display, the beat fight of the evening was the encounter between Signalman Morris of H.M.S. Suffolk and Marine Perstein of the 4th Regt. U.S.M.C. There was everything in the scrap that the keenest Astic enthusiast could have wished for. After ten rounda of gruelling plug- ging the verdict was handed, to Morris who cartainly had a margin on the battling Marine. The Shanghai Sunday Times.
