Faced with the formidable totál of 203 runs, Mackay and Skinner gave the Single XI a good start 58 runs being on the board before Mackay stopped in front of straight delivery from Lyal when 35. Though not scoring a century, Mackay should be satisfied with his effort in that he displayed good strokes all-round the wicket and played the most polished Innings of i the match. 0 Mackay was given out stumped. 2 Requiring but two runs for his half century Mackay hit seven boundaries. Fincher continued to Rcore freely and in partnership with Skinner added 45 runs for the third wicket. Skinner hit a six off Brace and three 4's in his luninga of 26. Four runs Inter Fincher was clean bowled by Goodwin for 47 runs. He played careful Innings, though he was very ng- gressive when anything loose càme down, which included six 4's. Three wickets then fell in rapid succession, but with the fall of Chadwick's wicket the scores were lovel, and Mead found little diffi- culty in collecting the necessary run for victory off the last ball of Brace's over. Undefeated at the close E. C. Fincher scored 23 runs in which were included three 4's and a 3. Coming on to bowl very late in the Innings A. R. F. Raven returned the best bowling: figures of 2 wickets for 21 runs. Goodwin during his second spell with the ball bowled four malden overs, In- eluding a wicket-maiden, and con- ceded but one run for his wicket in five overs.
At the K.C.C. yesterday the Single XI defeated the Married XI by two wickets.
