The interest of the Colony during the week has been centred, of course, on the annual Race meeting at Happy Valley, which His Excellency the Governor and Lady Peel attended. On Saturday (the first day) dividends paid were very high, Gold Key in one race, paying $379 for a win! On Monday Mr. Y. S. Chang, the crack Shanghai jockey, won the Governor's Cup and the Garrison Cup in consecutive events. The Derby the classic race was won by King's Service, with Mr. Chang up. The Ladies' Purse was cap tured by Mr. L. P. Quincey on Apollo, which smashed Adam's record of last year. The Champions, in which only three panies participated, was won in a common canter by Diana Bay. A full report is contained in the OVERLAND CHINA MAIL.
