London, Jan. 22. Increased competition in the American inter-coastal passenger and cargo trade is promised with Dollar the announcement by the Steamship Lines of their intention to establish immediately a fort- nightly service eastward from Oriental ports and Manilo via San Francisco and Los Angeles to. New I York via the Panama Canal.
This service will represent an extension of the present service of the line between the Orient and San Francisco, and it is indicated that eventually it may he develop-
