ANNUAL SENDING TO MECCA MAY BE RESUMED.

According to Egyptian newe papers the Egyptian Consul in Jeddah has been authorised by his Government to discuss its differ- ences with the Wahabi Govern. ment, especially those concerning the Holy Corpet, which was for. merly sent to Mecca with the an nual Egyptians', Pligrimage.

It is also reported from the Hedjaz that the Wahabi Govern. ment may agree to allow the Holy Carpet to be sent once more, pro- vided that it comes without the escort of Egyptian soldiers and the military band which used to attend its progress.

Formerly, it was sent every year with the Mahmal, or richly decor ated ceremonial and symbolical camel-howdah, by the ruler of Egypt with the Egyptian Pilgrim-informed that all Goods are being CONSIGNEES of Cargo are hereby
