How It Made A Fortune.

We paused at the door of a Soho restaurant as a police whistle thrill- ed sharply clear above the din of evening traffic.

At the sound of it, my companion raised his head, listening with n kindling smile.

"To me," he said, "that is the inost thrilling sound in London. If you heard a complete stranger shouting your family motte you would probably feel the same."
