Sio declares Leila Hyams, heroine of "The Girl Said No," Haines's new Metro-Goldwyn. Mayer talking picture which will open to-morrow in the Queen's Theatre. Not long ago she was his heroine. in "Alias Jimmy Haines characterisations of that picture and his present vehicle are as difficult as day and night. "There," she says, "he was a daredevil," serious enough in love, but relying on his own wits and supremely confident that they'd pull him through any difficulty., In "The Girl Said No," he's a graduate just facing business life and he watches it like a boxer, be- cause he knows that he has for- midable competition. There is a depth to the character that is really inspiration.
Miss Hyams has the part of the office secretary in the brokerage firm where Haines gets his first job and starts to face the respon- sibilities of life. Sam Wood directed the production in which details of wall street and "Big Business" mingle with a rapid fire romance that culminates in a breakneck automobile elopement,
"When Billy starts his comedy," says Miss Hyams, "the hardest thing in the world to do is to keep from Inughing in the wrong place and spoiling the scene; in fact, sometimes it's al- most agony
to subdue a laugh when he pulls some extemporane- ous trick. There are a lot of them in this picture. But on the other hand, there were scenes, such as the episode of his father's death, when he realizes his re- sponsibilities, that bring a catch in the throat also dangerous in talking pictures. So after all working opposite Billy has ita drawbacks when he really starts to act."
"DOUGH BOYS,"
The truth of the saying that a man isn't appreciated in his own country was brought home to Sally Eilers, the girl chosen to appear opposite Buster Keaton in his latest Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer comedy, "Dough Boys," which is at the Queen's Theatre.
Not realising her own import- ance, it took Florenz Ziegfeld, of world-wide fame, to attach inter- est to her by his declaration that she was a representative of the
era routine of walking keeps her on her feet for thirty miles a day. Appearing in "Dough Boys'

The story presents riotous adventures a rookie, starting of Keaton as with his experiences on the trane- port which takes him to France and continuing with his mishaps in the front-line trenches.
"CAPTAIN OF THE GUARD.".
The Immortal march of the Men of Marseilles is one of the most dramatic high-lights of history, and in the Universal all-sound musical romance "Captain of the Guard," which is screened in the Central Theatre, this heroic march is shown in all of its gripping immensity.

It was this handful of nondes- cript heroes which turned the tide of battle in the Revolution from defeat to victory for the re- volutionists, and the manner in which they fought and won is de. picted with startling realism in the tremendous conflict shown in
the picture.
Only 500 strong, they marched from their home, Marseilles, in the South of France, clear to
Paris, arriving just in the nick of time to hurl themselves into the fray. They gave new courage to their comrades who were being thrown back by the King's armies, and such was their indomitable spirit, even after their forced march, that the day was theirs.
Such is the climax of "Captain of the Guard"-a climax which is approached through one of the most romantic, one of the most appealing love stories ever filmed. This beautiful romance is between Laura La Plante and John Boles, who are starred in the picture, during the course of which Boles's golden voice is heard in five en- tirely new songs, written especial- ly for the picture by Charles Wakefield Cadman..
