Before the Hon. Comdr. G. F. Hole, R.N., (retired) in the Marine Court this morning, Mr. R. A. Bates, clerk of the Clearance Office, Harbour Department, summoned Captain Kanako, of the Japancae 8.8. Kushiro Maru on two counts of. (1) failing to enter the vessel at the Harbour Office on her arrival in port on November 14; and (2) fail- ing to take out a clearance at the Harbour Office ou leaving port the same day.

The Magistraate inquired what was the amount of light dues and Mr. Bates sald that it was $2.40. The Kushiro Maru, he explained, was a 120-ton steam vessel owned by Horal & Co., and employed as a fishing boat.

His Worship imposed fines of $50 or one month's hard labour on each count, and directed that the jail terma run consecutively in the event of the fines not being paid.
