ROUND THE CAMP FIRE

DEEP SEA SCOUT'S BRAVERY.

A member of the Deep Sea Scouts, the branch of the Boy Scouts Association for seafaring Scouts, has been awarded the Royal Humane Society's bronze medal for herolem in life saving.

He is V. J. Squibs, a former member of the 3rd Cardigan Troop of Boy Scouts. When sailing as an apprentice on the S.S. Wimborne, he saved the life of a fireman who fell overboard while the vessel was in dock.

Squibs plunged in to the man, who could not swim, and in spite of his violent struggles was able to bring him back to the ship's storn.

CLOCK TIME.

Draw a clock face on the Boor. Twelve Cubs are chosen to re- present the hours, and two others

as bour and minute hands. Akela (or a sixer) calls out a time, such two as "Four o'clock," and the hands have to run to the correct, time (places).. Any "hour" cor- recting a "hand" takes ble place.

This game can be altered so as to use a compass instead of clock. Only, eight Cubs will be needed to represent the points of the compass, and one for a pointer. Akela (or sixer) calls out a com- pass point, and the pointer runs to that position.

CHIEF COMMISSIONER AT LEICESTER.

Lord Hampton, the Chief Commia- aloner, spoke from the lectern at Loicester Cathedral at the annual County Scouts' Church Parado. In his address he said that they were not Scouts by merely turning up at meetings, paying subscriptiona regularly or seeing that their Troop or Patrol was the best, but by little acts of kindness that Scoutmasters did not see.

Scout

When he addressed tho workers of the Leicester Scout Council, he maintained that the Scout Movement requires streng- thening in the Churches, irrespec- tive of denomination.

The Lord Mayor of Leicester, Councillor W. E. Hincke, who was that the Movement present, sald symbolised that voluntary service which had counted for success all through the ages.
