BAIRD DEMONSTRATES BEFORE MARINERS.
A demonstration was given to the Master the members of Mariners' Club at Southampton recently of the fog-piercing quali ties of the infra-red rays dis covered by J. L. Baird during his research work on television.
The latest application of these rays, invisible to the human carrying tits Majesty's Mails, will eye, whereby what Baird calls may be achieved, be despatches from this Port on "noctovision"
Apparatus has been devised whereby a beacon of three beams of infra-red rays revolves. These rays are received through a lens on to a photographic cell which is swung round until the rays, converted into musical sounds,
