IMPORTANT LETTER.

Recent researches at Lamport Hall, in Northamptonshire, havo brought to light a document of extra- ordinary' interest, describing the inst hours of Sir Walter Raleigh, says the Morning Post,

It is a letter from Robert Town son, Dean of Westminster, and afterwards Bishop of Salisbury | (who accompanied Raleigh to the scaffold), to Sir John Isham, of Lamport.

General Nobile's Explanation.

WIRELESS BLAMED. -

The English translation of Gen- aral Nobile's account of the flight and catastrophe, of the airship "Italia" is published ("With the "Italia" to the North Pole," George Allen and Unwin, Ltd., price 155.).- The book gives a detailed account of the preparations and flight of the

expedition.

It will be remembered that the airship crashed on ice-fields, throw ing General Nobile and eight com. panlons on to the ice, while the damaged airship sailed away with the rest of the crew.

A systematic examination of the Tsham papers is being curried out by Mr. Gyles laham, son of the pre- sent owner of Lamport, and every

month some new document of en- thralling interest comes to light.

One of Mr. Isham's most recent

finds is an autographed letter by Lord Burleigh, while in the same portfolio as Bishop Townson's letter there was found the following poem with Sir Walter Raleigh's name appended:

At an earlier stage in Townson's career he had held a living in the neighbourhood of Lamport, and the friendship then formed between the baronet of Lamport and Townson continued for many years.
